Have you ever had a project that you’ve been working on for months and months, that you’re absolutely in love with and so excited to launch and show the world but life changing events keep happening, and then one day you say, “Ok, is it time to finally launch this?”
That is the extremely abbreviated version of how Canteen Cowboy came to be. About a year ago, after quite a bit of prodding from close friends, Patrick and I started thinking about launching a small photography project. One thing led to another and we came up with the idea of “Canteen Cowboy,” a small photography business that would allow us to go out and shoot photos in and around our community of Austin, Texas as well as travel to reenacting and vintage events around the country. Our goal is to offer friendly and personable photography options that will not make you stress out for days before your shoot. We understand that not everyone has the same style or shape, and during our shoots with clients we will work with you on posing and styling suggestions (if requested) to try and obtain the ideal images that you are looking for. We pride ourselves in being extremely family friendly and would never place any of our clients in poses that would make them feel uncomfortable due to modesty concerns. We want ladies to feel beautiful and confident after a photo shoot with us – not uncomfortable and concerned with how their photos will be edited post-process. We also love pets. Whether they are dogs, cats, horses, or even cattle, we are more than willing to come out and shoot portraits with your favorite furry family members.
As this blog progresses, you will be learning more about Patrick, myself, and Balto (our favorite cattle dog sidekick), hearing about our adventures as we travel, as well as our hobbies and interests within the vintage and reenacting communities. Expect to find many posts on photography, food, fashion – both vintage and reproduction, random bits of history that I happen to be researching, fabric, as well as in depth discussions on Bakelite.
We can’t wait to share more of our work and get to know all of you! Stay tuned for more adventures coming soon!
